Our final party of the year was on December 22nd, in the private “York” dining room of Hawksworth Restaurant at the lovingly restored Rosewood Hotel Georgia.

We chose a colour palette of deep greens, golds, chartreuse, and ivory to work in this unbelievable room, with it’s subtle & elegant colours, architectural details and incredible art.

Each table is graced with a tall vase filled with perfectly clean water & floating Rose Petals & topped off with full and showy fresh arrangement of flowers. The vases are displayed on a light boxes which illuminate the Rose petals in the water.

We used imported Hydrangea from New Zealand, local Snowball Mums, local Cymbidium Orchids, South American Roses, Californian Green Jade Trachellium and white Trachellium, and featured both the deep green & the gold of the Magnolia from a local garden.
I love this room, although it is smaller (Max seating for 72…this particular party was for 64 guests) it creates an intimate event, with details that are breathtaking, and of course the amazing culinary skills from the chefs at Hawksworth.

Then I learned that the marriage would be a Hindu ceremony and the excitement started to really build.

Entering into the garden guests were greeted by Buddhas festooned in Roses…
Welcome into the front courtyard for the ceremony…

Garlands of traditional Hindu style orange Marigolds & Jasmine were imported from India

The ceremony itself was under a canopy of Wisteria tented with silk…

The sun made an appearance highlighting the intense colours of the flowers…
just breathtaking.
The Marigolds from India are huge!

Orchids, Roses, Crocosmia, and Garlic are arranged in a mirrored vessel

Everywhere you turn…
another beautiful statue.
Love this little seating area in the front courtyard…

Then through the house…

This is called a Glamellia…they first became popular in the 1940s and are made up of hundreds of Rose Petals to create one giant blossom.

And into the backyard where the mood was more serene with hundreds of candles and thousands of Rose petals scenting the air….

The Couple’s Monograms made of chartreuse button Mums float in the pool…

Love this antique Tibetan door and Buddha that are a permanent fixture of the backyard

and more Glamellias float in the pool…these are my new favourite thing!

This may just be my favourite wedding ever.
(But I say that after almost every wedding…ha!!!)

Those were the days my friend.
For those of us old enough to remember Nick Gilder in 1978, his song Hot Child in the City brings back all kinds of crazy summer memories full of sights, sounds, and scents. For some reason these Peonies, Callas, and Garden Roses bring back the glory days of “Summer Sundays” at Empire stadium in the late 70s. Vive le Supertramp!
Peonies in Coral and shades of Pink, with Callas and Roses. Everything here is grown LOCALLY. Can I get an Amen?
 Imported David Ausin Garden Roses “Yves Piaget” and “Sunset” are mixed with Cherry Brandy Roses and Locally grown Peonies for a deliciously fruity summer colour mix.
The Yves Piaget are heavenly scented. ( like pure Rose Oil… Heady and delicious) If you want a Peony look during off-season, this is a Peony shaped Scented Rose to die for.
A Formal Affair….
With a grand Entrance.

Maybe it’s just the PURE JOY in these flowers that takes me back to the innocent days of the 70s. Whatever it is, I like it.

Fairy Tales can come true, it can happen to you….
Lorelei’s Bridesmaids carried a mix of soft pink and ivory Peonies….. Like a soft pink dream.
The Bride’s Bouquet was a cloud of Ivory Peonies.
The Bride is a Grade One teacher, and her 15 girls are in white gowns with pink sashes and carrying “Fairy Wands” of Pink Peonies and ivory satin ribbon.
The Groomsmen wore Pink peonies & Hyacinth Blossoms.

A row of tall candelabras and short urns…all adorned with flowers run the length of the table.

Happy Easter!
I haven’t had time to blog for ages! I have been updating my Facebook page regularly as it is much quicker to add photos of our new work on a daily basis, so to check out our latest work click on the FB link on our home page. In the meantime…. I Love this colour combination of Tiffany Blue and Daffodil Yellow. Especially at Easter…
Another of my favourite flowers in the Spring are these sweet tiny little blue blossoms, commonly known as Grape Hyacinth, or Muscari. These are from my own garden. They are available commercially but very expensive…about $3/per tiny little stem. But If you LOVE them, they are worth every penny.

Our signature Easter bouquet for 2011. A mix of Roses, Hyacinth, and real hand dyed, blown out eggs with pearl detail. Available in a range of colours. Starting at $75.00 as shown.

Anyone who knows me, knows I have a total infatuation with tiny blue eggs. We blow these tiny little Quail eggs out & hand dye them blue. 5 for $10.00
These are FABULOUS displayed in little vases or glasses like my own vintage hi-ball collection pictured above.
We love using our hand blown eggs in bouquets and arrangements.

I searched everywhere for a “birdsnest” style basket to display all our eggs in. National and local suppliers only had a sad supply of mini twig nests with fake eggs or birds glued inside….No Thanks! I ended up buying an assortment of pussywillow wreaths and twig brooms, and added some fresh weeping Birch. Presto….Giant Birds Nest. What a fabulous Centrepiece!
Now, there’s a great DIY Easter decor project!

So Sweet.
These photos are graciously supplied by Sakura Photography, and are from the wedding of Jenn & Chris last year at The Vancouver Club. The ceremony was in the foyer…which I just LOVE…Romantic draping creates a beautiful background for the ceremony and also blocks off the area of the club that will be used for dancing later in the evening…
The Bridesmaids carried very soft celery green Roses, bound in Periwinkle satin fabric to match their gowns.
Jenn & Chris signing the all important documents. I find Bride’s often feel they need to order an arrangement for this table, but usually using the Bride’s bouquet is just perfect….
Jenn carried a lush and flowing hand tied bouquet of white Phalaenopsis Orchids bound in satin to match her gown. Tucked into the back of the bouquet is a photo of Jenn as a baby, with her favourite Uncle who passed away. He was there in her heart.

Autumn settles in…
as the days start getting shorter and the light gets softer, sunset tones of gold, orange, red, and hot pink are some of my favourites. Cymbidium Orchids, Mokara Orchids, Ajumah Orchids, Calla lilies, and Roses are some of the most beautiful flowers available in October, November, and December.
In mid October we had a beautiful wedding at The Tea House Stanley Park. The Bridal Bouquet was a textural mix of Dahlias & Roses.
Dahlias are usually only available until late September, but in 2010 we had them all the way through to late October. (Lucky for this Bride!)
November…a 50th Anniversary party of winter whites, silver, and crystal.
These are the same slate grey linens we used in September with floral accents of bright red….here used with white, silver, and crystal chandeliers, they are brand new look…
December…The party season!
LOVE this Alessi collander filled with red Carnations and shiny red baubles…
For centrepieces this year, I was really loving the GlamOrganic look of Birch and Baubles.
So, there it is…the year that was 2010.
It was a spectacular year full of Olympics, Events, Films, Weddings, and Parties.
May 2nd, 2011 is my 19th anniversary of opening my design studio/store and each year has been full of new ideas, new clients, new challenges, and thankfully new varieties of flowers available commercially which keeps things exciting and fresh.
We are already working on some fantastic events and weddings coming up soon, and are booked solid for every long weekend in 2011.
